My Chinito Boss [2013]

Author: Tsina Cajayon
Publisher: Lifebooks
Year: 2013

AboutMy Chinito Boss:
She’s clumsy. He’s impatient.

She’s Ms. free-spirited hipster girl who doesn’t care about her looks. He’s Mr. Arrogant who always looks smart and awesome in a suit.

She believes in happily ever after. He doesn’t believe in true love.

She’s his secretary and he’s her new boss.

She loves him. He loves her…not.

They went to Seoul, Korea for a business proposal and to find out about her descendant, her identity, ang free round trip ticket at ang tungkol sa demanding, arogante at masungit na si Jae-Sun Choi na isa palang miyembro ng Kkangpae (깡패) o Korean Mafia.

I Say…
It was so fast paced but still enjoyable. Did they edit too much? The chapters were cut too short, I think. From secretary to brand manager to becoming the heir… it happened way too fast. It would be great to know a bit more about Sam’s family and Jae Sun Choi. How exactly did Greg became connected with the Kkangpae who wished to kill Sam?

Sam sure is weird. If you receive trip tickets to Korea, would it be bad to grab the opportunity if it’s free? Well, she is a bit weird but very lovable. I am betting on her patience. Well, if I have that kind of boss, might as well! I just keep on imagining Lee Min Ho… even though his eyes are way too big to be ‘chinito‘.

The cover art may be a bit weird and not that attractive plus all the typo errors (yes even in native tongue there are plenty of typo errors) made me re-read sentences, but this little book is feel good and romantic as can be. You can’t really judge as book by its cover.

The K-Pop Star and I [2013]

The K-Pop Star and IAuthor: J.P.Adrian
Year: 2013
Publisher: Lifebooks

About (goodreads):
When Hallyu Wave invaded the Philippines, nagtatago marahil si Joy sa kuweba.

She’d be living a fairytale that every fangirl had ever dreamed of.

I Say…

As if we Filipinos can’t get enough of K-Pop, it even invaded our literature. Yes, you read the cover right. The K-Pop Star and I is indeed a “Koreanobela”. A crazy one, it is. Don’t think of Joy Natividad as a stereotype character based on the book title. She is not a hallyu fanatic at all. She is just a victim of fate… like all heroines who meet the love of their lives unexpectedly.

I hesitated at first to grab a copy but told myself that is for the love and support for Filipino writers. There are lots of funny moments from the book and I can’t help but giggle as I thought that it’s too impossible to stop your infatuation for a guy who already made girls from all over Asia swoon and worship… plus the fact that his breath smelled like Skittles. And what’s even more impossible? K-Pop star falling for nerdy P.A? Not quite. ^__^

Para Sa Hopeless Romantic [2013]

PSHRAuthor: Marcelo Santos III
Year: 2013
Publisher: Lifebooks

About (goodreads):

I Say…

This is one book I never thought I’ll read. The title is talking to me, saying something like “hands off!”. But I read it anyway. It was a risk I’ve got to take. There are 5 characters in this book namely Ryan, Maria, Nikko, Becca and Jackie. They all have stories to tell. There seems to be a great connection among them… I might say it’s called ‘fate’. A thing they all believe in. Basically this book is about putting your love in the hands of the ever mysterious phenomenon called fate.

Happy ever after exists in Marcelo Santos III’s Para Sa Hopeless Romantic. Something I’m not a fan of. I’m not being bitter here, but hey, it’s better off that way. I have my fair share of experiencing the dreadful infatuation and first love. I think I learned everything the hard way. So I guess you just grow up and move on. This book dealt with a lot of love lessons, lessons you can’t afford to miss. It is so impossible for any real, healthy human being not to relate their experience with at least one of the five main key persons.

I repeat, read this at your own risk. I think I’m going to grab the original edition too, in the future.
