About (MangaUpdates):

Moritaka Mashiro (Saiko), with his superb drawing skill, is invited by his writing genius classmate Akito Takagi (Shujin) to tread the difficult path of the mangaka!! His sights are set on his naive yet earnest joint dream with Miho Azuki, who is aiming to become a voice actress!! Saiko and Shujin team up as writer and artist, aiming to be serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump, make a hit, and then release an anime. They bring their manuscripts into editors and set off on the road to becoming pro manga artists!! This is a new-age story of manga success!!

I Say…

For all aspiring artists/writers out there, this is a good read. You can learn lots from Ashirogi Muto and their fellow mangaka slash friends. Although some chapters were quite dragging, the last few volumes were great. From the same duo who created Deathnote, they whipped up a good success story in Bakuman. I learned so much about manga through this manga. How the brainstorming works from mangaka to editor, down to serialization and the panel of rigorous individuals from the publishing company… all of it was overwhelming. One chapter goes through so much, just for the satisfaction and enjoyment of the readers. A mangaka exerts 200 percent effort and enthusiasm every time. Plotting doesn’t come easily, it’s even nerve wrecking. Even when you’re all dried up and your creativity expires, a good plot wouldn’t come. I am planning to write to Shiina Karuho and Yuu Watase, to cheer them on and wish them good health to be able to write more good stuff in the future.

Next to Ashirogi Muto, my favorite character is Niizuma Eiji. He is a genius. Isn’t it hard to come up with a manga on your own? You think of a plot and then you draw. In Bakuman, it was never easy as it sounds.

About (mangaupdates):
Yusuke Urameshi was a tough teen delinquent until one selfless act changed his life… by ending it. When he died saving a little kid from a speeding car, the afterlife didn’t know what to do with him, so it gave him a second chance at life. Now, Yusuke is a ghost with a mission, performing good deeds at the behest of Botan, the ferrywoman of the River Styx, and Koenma, the pacifier-sucking judge of the dead.

I Say…

I read the manga version to compare it with the series. I am certain it closely followed the manga except for the last tankoubon. Since I only got to watch the series in our own language, sad to say, they altered a lot of stuff here. Reading the manga helped to make me understand a bunch of stuff.

Urameshi Yusuke is still my favorite character of the story. I used to think I like Hiei more. I liked Kuwabara when I “read” him, not when I watched him way back. I always thought he’s not that important in the series but he is. He really is.

Lots of childhood memories regained afterwards. I am still so faithful to Yu Yu Hakusho even when there’s Flame of Recca. 🙂
